Do I have some great news for all you pasta lovers out there! I just had pasta for dinner, two nights in a row…and didn’t cheat!

Pasta is one of those comfort foods that we love to eat, but is filled with tons of carbs and if we are trying to be healthy and get lean, this is a big no no, especially for dinner. Well, I have found a solution..and it is delicious. I have even tried it on some family members and they even asked for seconds!! It is called Black Bean Pasta.

Check out the differences- you are getting similar calories..but look at where those calories are coming from..huge difference!!

                  Regular spaghetti     vs.    Black Bean Pasta

Calories:       200 calories          vs.       180 calories

Carbs:          39 grams               vs.         17 grams ( only 5 grams net carbs)

Fiber:             2 grams               vs.         12 grams

Protein:         7 grams                vs.         25 grams

Seriously, only 5 net carbs and 25 grams of protein per serving!!! This is just the pasta itself..add in some protein source and that goes up!!

First night this is what i made: sautéed garlic and onions, added cooked chicken, broccoli and chicken broth. Let simmer till broccoli was tender. Mix with pasta, which was cooked just like regular pasta. Yum Yum!

Second night: Browned chicken sausage, added leftover black bean pasta from night before, and added a homemade marinara sauce. Yum Yum!
